COVID-19 FISHING UPDATE

Due to last nights announcement from the government this years AGM will be cancelled until such time that we have a open venue and it is deemed safe to hold such a meeting where social distancing isn’t recommended.
I am already receiving emails asking if the lakes are closed, my answer to this is we haven’t physically closed waters but as per recommendation by the Government this would be classed as non essential travel and you will possibly putting your health and others at risk, and even possibly fined by the police.
Therefore it is our recommendation that you stay home and stay safe.

We will keep you posted with any updates and changes to the above.

Please pass this on by telephone to any BAC friends you have that don’t have fb or internet access.

Addition from the Angling Trust

F.Y.I

The Angling Trust has now created a dedicated support helpline for angling organisations. You can access details of the helpline, along with information about financial support that could be available to angling organisations and businesses promised by the Government as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and its associated impact, on our dedicated support pages.

Clubs, fisheries and other angling organisations can access this information here.

We must all do what is required of us by the Government and work together to fight this pandemic. Therefore until further notice we should all refrain from fishing. This is about saving lives and supporting the NHS.

In regards to the current restrictions announced by the Government on Monday 23 March 2020 it is clear that the only permitted activities that have been specified are walking, running and cycling for the purpose of local daily exercise. Today we have written to the Sports Minister highlighting the benefits to both physical health and mental wellbeing that angling provides and that we are ready and prepared to offer whatever support the government or Sport England require now or in the future to get people back fishing as soon as is safely possible.

We will post updates for all anglers on our dedicated support pages

Many thanks, stay safe and look after each other,

Jamie Cook

Chief Executive

Simister Weed Removal

Weed removal boat is on Simster tomorrow if anyone is free to help please come to Simister. We are there from 8am till 4pm.

Meeting Venue Change

As of Tuesday 7th May 2019, our new meeting venue will be The Whitehouse Club, 193 Middleton Road, M8 4JZ.

We have decided to move from the bowling club due to the number of members not attending meetings. The numbers fell when we left the golf club, we have spoken to members who attend the meetings and had a look at our membership system and the majority of our members live close to Ashenhurst and Bowker. Our new venue The Whitehouse Club is between the two lakes. (see map below). The old venue had bowling on through-out the summer which made parking a problem.

The Whitehouse Club has a large car park with plenty of spaces, bus and tram stop outside, Disabled friendly access (no stairs), ground floor toilets, large room and a bar.
